About Jason

Over Two Decades Inside Retail Audit & Recovery

MarginTek was born from more than two decades spent inside the financial and operational machinery of the world’s largest retailers: Walmart, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Target, Kroger, and many others. Over those years, I worked directly with suppliers who were trying to make sense of increasingly complex deduction practices, shifting compliance requirements, and the constant pressure to protect profitability in an environment that rarely slows down.

My career has been uniquely two-sided. Before founding MarginTek, I served as Vice President of Audit Services, where I built and led a team dedicated to defending suppliers against improper deductions issued by retailers and their contracted third-party auditors. But previous to that role, I spent the majority of my career on the opposite side. Conducting post-audit reviews for retailers and issuing the very deductions my team later fought to recover.

Seeing both sides of the process changed everything. It became clear that deductions weren’t just a nuisance; they were a predictable outcome of structural gaps, unclear agreements, and operational blind spots. And unless suppliers took a proactive approach, those margin leaks would continue year after year.
